Big Idea Public Meeting Monday, August 21, 2017
Posted Tuesday, August 15, 2017

Last year, the Administration and City Council identified the Olde Pickerington Village as a top priority during the budget process and appropriated funds to create a strategic plan in 2017. In March, the City invited three consultants to submit proposals. Interviews were conducted in April and OHM Advisors, a professional architecture, engineering and planning firm located in the Columbus area, was selected to create the strategic plan for the Olde Village because of the unique planning approach that will be applied to complete this important project. It combines visioning, long-range planning, economic development and best practices for creating a vibrant downtown district. The goal is to create a plan that is holistic - balancing land use, character and economic development elements with integrated solutions to plan for the future of the Olde Village.

The first phase of the project began in late May and lasted approximately one month. During this phase, the consultants worked with City staff to develop the foundation of the strategic plan. A thorough analysis of the existing conditions of the study area was conducted. As part of the first phase, the City assembled a steering committee to guide and inform the development of the project. The steering committee is comprised of 12 stakeholders who have a vested interest in the Olde Village.

The second phase of the project began in July. The project team will perform two key tasks that will inform the development of the final plan. The first task will consist of a series of stakeholder interviews that will provide the consultant team with intuitive knowledge related to the study area. The stakeholders may include residents, community groups, business leaders, and appointed/elected officials. During these meetings, the consultants will conduct an idea generation and mapping exercise with the stakeholders to initiate dialogue on the future of the Olde Pickerington Village. The second key task will include a public meeting and survey. This will allow all residents and businesses an opportunity to share their aspirations for the Olde Village.

Combustion Brewery and Taproom has generously agreed to provide the space for the Big Idea Public Meeting which will be held Monday, August 21, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at 80 West Church Street, #101, Pickerington, Ohio 43147.

Those residents and businesses who are interested in sharing their input, but are unable to attend the Big Idea Public Meeting can visit for more information or to complete the survey.
